Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Canada
September 17, 2008

I recently volunteered to be a Big Brother with the Toronto chapter of  the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Canada. For those of you unfamiliar with the organization I highly recommend you check out their website to learn about what it is they actually do, you’ll be shocked at how large the organization is.

For those of you with extra time on your hands or if you’re looking for something to add to your life, I encourage you to come with me or join me in attending Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Canada’s info-sessions.

A funny fall soundtrack
September 17, 2008

September is a funny month in the year, and has always been a funny month in my life. I was born on September the 11th. If you know me, you’ll understand why that’s funny. But its also funny because I find September is usually associated with change: companies really start hiring, back-to-school, change of the season (this is especially significant as its the end of our precious summer here in Canada) People are funny when they experience change and I’ve seen some funny, bizarre and strange things happen at work, with my family, and friends. In fact the only thing that has really been a constant for me this fall is change.

Part of my personal nature retreats to music for comfort. Being comfortable through change is an important value for me. I listen to all and any types of music, and well its impossible for me to tell you what I like at any given moment. You COULD go to my last.fm profile which tracks my listening habits on iTunes, but  I thought I’d rather just share some tracks that I have gravitated too this September as I manage the changes in my life. Enjoy.

Elijah Prophet - Mother Nature

Lupe Fiasco - Sunshine

The Hives - It Won’t Be Long

Beck - Walls

Wow. So a very smart friend of mine send me a random Sunday morning message on Blackberry Messenger with nothing but this URL link. I briefly investigated and was impressed by the catalogue available. This really is becoming the new way for me to watch television. In fact I don’t even know if we can really call it television any more. I’m finding myself watching uninterrupted hour length episodes of my OWN television programming. I can go to them and watch them so long as I have an internet connection, AND I don’t pay for it.

I wouldn’t mind paying for it either so long as I knew I could download the entire season of the show I’m interested in, and watch the episodes as I so please. This is how I got into watching Dexter and Californication through Rogers on Demand. I wonder if any production house will make made for internet programming that is launched through iTunes. For me the consumer, this is ideal.
